Debate of the Week: 6/20/11

So, you finally meet the person of your dreams. The person you want to spend the rest of your life with. You've met tons of others but no one compares to this special person. BUT you are doing very well for yourself financially and considered having your future spouse sign a prenuptial agreement. Many would say a prenup is simply a safety net, a way of saying "just in case" while others would argue one shouldn't walk down the aisle with a "just in case" in mind. So does a prenup contradict a marriage that is intended to last forever?

  1. Dang this is a hard question. If I was a millionaire and my partner barely had two nickels to rub together, then I feel it is appropriate. At the end of the day you must protect yourself...

Now I have heard of people asking for a prenup and they weren't worth a damn... then I would be questionable then.

  2. But that's just it. Is it really marriage if you walk into it thinking of protecting your self? This is suppose to be your missing piece, your other half. You are vowing before God to unite as one from this day foward. BUT turn right around and say I'm gonna protect ME not us?
